Last night I hosted the first ever Peels To The People Open House.  It was so fun!  You never know how many people will show up at events so when I looked out at a sea of smiling faces, it was gratifying to see clients (new and established) checking it out.  I see it’s all about connection.  You’ll find an aesthetician on every corner in this town so when they come to you year after year (after year), you know something special is going on.  Thank you, thank you….whatever I give to you, you return in spades.

September 11, 2009

We all remember where we were on 9/11/2001.  I was working for a dermatologist in Portland at the time and we had a full day of patients.  Everyone who came in that day had a story to tell and it wasn’t about their skin.  One patient hadn’t heard from her brother who was a pilot for United.  One patient had a friend of a friend who worked in Tower 2.  Several patients were about to embark on long-awaited trips to exotic places and wondered if they should go.

Between patient visits and sneaking a peak at the television, it was an endless  day of  tragedy, sadness, anger and uncertainty.   As the days wore on, still not much smalltalk about skin.  It all came down to perspective, didn’t it.  And it still does.

Tribute to a Super Librarian

August 8, 2009

My dear friend and client Ann moved to Richland, WA to assume Head Librarian duties at the Richland Public Library.  Said library was to undergo at complete renovation and expansion.  Over the course of three years, Ann and her trusty team of city officials, Portland architects and designers,  and local Tri-City talent morphed an old building into a vision of modernity and community.  Absolutely stunning!  Congratulations Ann!  Amazing  job.

Busy Peeling

July 22, 2009

Summer is not necessarily a busy time for chemical peels, yet they are perfectly safe this time of year.  Provided the peel client follows pre- and post-peel instructions, results should be as satisfactory and beneficial as if they were conducted in deepest winter.  Use post-peel skincare, apply sunscreen liberally and often, wear a hat if you’re going to be outside…you’re good to go.
